An American comedian filmed himself visiting Dublin for the first time and it's very uncomfortable to watch

AMERICAN COMEDY DOESN’T always work well on this side of the Atlantic.
In fact, it rarely does. Sometimes it seems that the fundamental thought behind American comedy is that if you shout, something is automatically funny.
The louder and more obnoxious you are about getting a point across, the funnier they believe it will be.
Sometimes it works (e.g. Michael Scott in The Office), but if you’re no longer a 14-year-old who sees the humour in Family Guy, usually it’s just exhausting (see also: Andy Samberg, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler).
This week, comedy video website Funny or Die sent one of their aspiring young shouting comedian’s to Dublin to do his thing.
Start dissolving a paracetamol now. You’ll need it by the end of this video.
It opens with Comedian Ryan O’Flanagan shouting his head off on South Anne Street in Dublin.
Despite his fiercely Irish name, he’s an American who ‘can’t handle Ireland’. Ireland can’t handle him either.
He goes to visit the Liffey and says that it’s full of whiskey.
He’s welcome to try it.
Like any tourist, he’s starting his trip off in search of a leprechaun (which he pronounces leprecorn – the thing that’s supposed to be funny about his videos is that he will pronounce a random word most sentences incorrectly).
You can be the judge of the effectiveness of this technique yourself.
Perhaps one of the most annoying moments in the video is this joke:
We have an actual spire, and he makes a joke about a point a spike on a piece of street furniture? We spent €4 million building the spire and it doesn’t even get a mention in this video when a ‘point’ joke is made.
Imagine seeing this man standing on Camden Street in the lashing rain screaming about the names of two pubs.
Someone must have witnessed this and thought “what the hell?”
The rest of this video is just him communicating his excitement by asking the viewer to put several things up his ‘ass’ and him wiggling his tongue. To guarantee complete awfulness, he even squeezed in a rape joke too.
The mispronunciation also just gets more and more annoying.
If you still appreciate Will Ferrell in 2017, just know that he founded this website and is responsible for this abomination. Go and enjoy that paracetamol now.
